Imperfection is Perfection

Heavy smog poisoning your brain,

Wait for evening; it’ll be cleared by the rain,

Then we can dance once more,

Casting shadows on across the misty floor.

Sticky and sweaty, collect the bags,

Throw away your dress; you look as good in rags,

The secret kept undercover, please uncover,

See a guise that’s been hidden forever.

A lamp under a basket is pointless,

I’ve counted, the times you do that are countless,

I’ll help grow back a dead flower,

And steal back a beautiful golden shower.

Obligatory standards are too high to meet,

Broken hearts needing operated on to treat,

Repair, bandage and moisturise to soften,

Start at the start and begin.

The flow was smooth but lost it at times, though it didn't hurt the poem which was nicely inundated with metaphors. A type-o: moisturise should be moisturize. Nicely done.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
