IN REMEMBRANCE OF BEAR

May, 20, 1989
I'll never forget that little guy,
Who was given the name of Bear.
I must admit, when we first met,
He really gave me a scare.
Yes, it's true, he was quite small,
But he was really tough.
I knew right away on that day,
I'd never call his bluff.
As we were around each other more,
He decided that I could stay.
But I was not to touch him yet,
Or even try to play.
Now I wouldn't want you to think he's mean;
He was just being sure;
He wanted to know that I was alright,
And that my intentions were pure.
Then one day, I'll never forget;
He walked right up to me.
He dropped his ball right at my feet,
Which meant come play with me.
From that day on, We were good friends,
And I enjoyed him so.
But he was really a character,
This I want you to know.
He could catch ice cream in the air,
Before it hit the floor;
Or he could walk up to your house,
And knock on your front door.
He always knew where food was kept,
So if you let him in,
Right to your fridge door he'd go,
So you could give to him.
Now that he's gone, I'll really miss him,
Even though he wasn't mine.
But I'm just glad for the memories,
That Bear has left behind.

I had a little kerry blue terrior once. He looked just like a bear cub when he was young. I thought of him, and many family pets since. A nice write.
