    Innocence

The sun is shinning, and the sky is blue. Two kids at the playground, so innocent, so true. Best friend forever, they claim til the end. A car pulls around the corner, two guys in a Benz. One guy hangs out the window, automatic in hand. He pulls on the trigger, the clip hits it's end. The sound of the gun, rips through the air. People start running, like a herd full of deer. Bullets are flying and bouncing off poles. Sticking in trees, yet nobody knows. Why is this happening, on the lords day. Parents ask why, they brought their kids out to play. The car speeds away, the Earth grows quiet. People are scared, and about to riot. People get up, off of the ground, is anyone injured, they all look around. Off in the sandbox, sits one little boy. His best friend in the dirt, his hand on a toy. "Wake up my friend, it's OK now. " but the boy doesn't move, as blood leaks to the ground. Best friends forever, they just claimed til the end. Best friends forever, now one of them is dead. There's no message of hope. The world isn't OK. This kind of thing happens everyday. People are cruel, they forgot how to care. The worlds full of bullets, that fly threw the air. Innocence lost at such a young age. Innocence forgotten, parents in pain.

Damn, that is so true. I hate taking my kids out because like your poem, you never know what's going to happen.

    Wow.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
