Innocence
She walked, dress
As white as
Freshly fallen snow
Pale reflections
In her lively
Baby blues,
Talk around town
Says her mother
Divorced her father
Another is moving in
Her dress wasn’t
As white,
Pale reflections
No longer echoed
In her baby blues
That had dulled,
No longer lively
She ran,
Her dress a vivid
Red,
Like a freshly bloomed
Rose,
Surviving the winter
Her face more jaded
Than before,
The new talk around
Town says that
She’s killed him,
The one who
Stole her innocence
Something not even
Time can bring back
She walked
Her dress a dreary black
Her mothers gone and
Withered away,
Or so they say,
Her eyes hooded
A weary grey,
Never again
Will you hear what
They say,
Days after
The now woman,
Who was robbed
So blindly of what
She was given
To her
Left the world,
Her untroubled soul
As pure as
A winters day’s
First snowfall
In death, her innocence
Returned.
As white as
Freshly fallen snow
Pale reflections
In her lively
Baby blues,
Talk around town
Says her mother
Divorced her father
Another is moving in
Her dress wasn’t
As white,
Pale reflections
No longer echoed
In her baby blues
That had dulled,
No longer lively
She ran,
Her dress a vivid

Like a freshly bloomed

Surviving the winter
