Poem Commentary

Sometimes you've just get up and get going...

It's Time To Press On

It’s Time To Press On

Am I living for today maybe waiting for tomorrow
Or stuck in the past somewhere not yet forgotten
I think I’m looking up ahead for the clearing
Cause Everything behind me seems lost and rotten

I know that in the past lies the path
That paved the way to where I am going
But what lays ahead is still unclear
 I proceed
With caution not knowing

I want to free myself from the chains
That are binding and that with I am enslaved
I want drop them here and now before
upon my soul are eternally engraved

I know I have made many mistakes
Many wrong turns I have made
I want to move forward with my life
Before the correct path begins to fade

I want to pull myself around
Back into the right direction
Where I found myself now
Is a result of my own misconception

I’m the one that made the decisions that
Have lead to where I stand today
And I’m the one who now decides
It’s time to move in another way

Though I’ll always remember and cherish
Many of the times in the past
I’ll try to heed the lessons I learned
Even though they went by so fast.

I know if stop I’ll catch myself
Dwelling and standing there
The rest of my life is moving on
With or without me it doesn’t care

Time will always move forward no matter
Whether we’re ready or think it’s fair
So I move on now, me and myself
Such a wild and crazy pair

I hope that I am living for today with
An eye on what’s coming tomorrow
And I leave the past behind
And no longer carry it’s sorrow.

you have great talent the poem is so deep with regret and longing to find your nitch in the fabric of time love the poem

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
