Jack and Jill

Jack and Jill

Jack and Jill went up the hill

Slowly and with purpose

Knowing as only the young do

‘Nothing will ever part us’

The brazenness of youth

Coupled with the strength of new emotions

Falsely convinces the pair

Of their invincibility through devotion

They are untouchable by Doubt

Jack and Jill so proud

Immune to Fury, Sadness, and Doom

Followers of narcissism sing loud

Of course, their fickle natures

Would never impede their fortunes

They deserve Adoration, Awe, and Glory

All in the largest portions

And when these two awaken

From their walking dream

They will also realize that effort

Is more necessary than it first seemed

They will have to labor

To maintain their blissful state

And if they choose the idle route

This love will dissipate

The value of love

Is worth the exertion

To find yourselves

An extension of the other person

Will Jill and Jack live their lives

In a continued blissful joining?

The choice is theirs, of course

Whether to respect the forces

With which they are toying

Miracles are real

And happen every day

For those who work for them

And Believe when they pray

There are a million and one directions to go with creativity - well spoken and the thought flows... love the originality. 10 for the pictures this creates.

Ah, now there's an idea! I've never written a continuation piece... Thanks for the idea and the encouragement. It may be time to write something new...

I do indeed hope they don't come tumbling down, but if they do, they will hopefully be that much wiser when making their next attempt! :)

This one definitely removes the rosy colored glasses, before presenting the sometimes harsher realities...interesting work my friend!

Thank you so much, savVy! This one was a creative writing project that turned out a little better than expected. I wanted to show the rougher side and still leave a sense of hope and I believe I may have accomplished that. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Exactly. Anything worth keeping is worth working for. Thanks for the read!

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
