    Poem Commentary

    so jellyfish predate dinosaurs, and if you look into them
    notice they resemble tiny galaxies afloat
    on oceans of passing universe, submerged they
    swim and capture prey with long translucent fingers
    like primordial reflections of the nighttime sky
    each is a world wrapped in stars- forming
    constellations. 

    dried, some species provide protein to the eager
    mouths of empty teeth to feel on hungry tongues
    the loving touch of nourishment, and replenished
    back on ships to capture jellyfish for food, who
    procreate asexually if necessary- or fuck if they
    can find a suitable partner i am sure.

    from its infinite heights
    down into reflections
    of moon

    rumor has it you
    were first
    to see the
    universe

    translucent fingers
    wade in primordial
    waves of unconscious
    oceans

    while up
    against the earth
    nets gather
    salt to preserve

    mouths wrapped
    around you, moonlight
    rumor has it you
    were first.
