    Poem Commentary

After two hours of thinking, and another hour of typing it, re-typing it, I think I got most of what I wanted to say down...If not...I might add on to it after a bit...But for now, I will leave it as it is...

    June 27, 2010, 2:22 AM

This is quite long, and more of a vented idea than a poem, I will make no excuse for calling it any more than an idea...

In my mind, only 3 types of people.
    Slackers
    Thinkers
    And Builders.
Its pretty easy to figure out which each of them do, but its what happens between them, that makes them different.

    Slackers slack.
    Thats all they do.
    They dont complain.
    They dont lift a finger.
    They are here.
    They slack.

    Builders build.
They think about what they are building,
    And they build it.
    If it is flawed,
Then they remember that for next time,
And they build it differently from then on.

    And then there are thinkers.
I am not talking about scientist,
    Or brain surgeons,
    Or engineers,
Who think about what they are building,
    And then build it,
Or even the ones that think about it,
And then give their ideas to be built,
    For they are still building,
But having others build it for them.

    I am talking about "Thinkers".
The ones that think about a problem after it has happened,
And then critizize the builders for letting it happen.
The ones that bitch and complain,
Without so much as even lifting a finger to help.
What the hell are they complaining about?

    Alright.
Say a Builder is building a house,
    He has thought about it,
He has dedicated himself to it,
    And he is building it
    Simple enough,
    Right?

    OK...
Lets say a Thinker is there,
    Watching the Builder build,
And notices the Builder misses a brick.
(Unlikely, I know, but just go with it.)
    Now,
    The Thinker has two options:
Inform the builder he has missed a brick,
Or even so much as get up,
And go place the brick himself.
    OR:
    Sit there,
    And do nothing,
    And complain about it.

What would happen in either case?
    Well...
If the Thinker gets up to help,
Then that Thinker has just become a Builder.
For he took time to help build something,
    Instead of sitting there.
    But...
If the Thinker just sits there,
Then thats all that the Thinker is ever going to do.
    He will sit there,
    And bitch about it,
When he cannot blame anyone but himself,
For he CHOSE NOT TO HELP!

I should probably take this back a few steps...
    OK...
    So the brick is missing,
    Then what?
The house loses heat when its cold outside,
And loses its cold when its hot outside.
    So the family is miserable.
(Thats probably exaggerating a bit too much, but it gets the point across)

    Had the Thinker helped,
And combined ideas with the Builder,
    To make the house better,
    Then IF it fails,
They would both be to blame.

Had the Thinker just sat there,
    And complained,
Then he has NO REASON TO COMPLAIN.
    He didnt help,
    So its not his problem.
The Builder is the only one who can blame the Builder.

    Only when the Thinker helps,
    Can he blame someone.
    Until then,
    He cant.

For the Builder planned it out,
And the Thinker does not know,
What was on the Builders mind,
Or how the Builder planned to do it.
He does not know how the Builder was raised,
    What kind of week,
    Month,
Or day that Builder has had,
Only that he saw the Builder building.
The thinker cannot say what he would have done,
What he could have done differently,
    Because HE DID NOT HELP,
And HE IS NOT THE BUILDER!
For until he lives the Builders life,
And thinks how the Builder did,
He cannot say what he would have done that the Builder didnt.
    Thats it,
There is nothing more that the Thinker could have done,
Other than sit there and watch.
    NOTHING.

I have left out the Slacker in most of this,
Becuase that is all s/he does,
    Is slack.
    They pay no mind,
They just go with the flow.
    They are the mutuals.
    Neither Thinkers,
    Nor Builders.
    Just Slackers.

    But,
To put it in simpler words,
For all that want a quick read:
    A Builder builds,
    And can blame him/her self/themselves.
A Thinker bitches about what happens after,
    Or during,
    The Builders build.
    When the Thinker helps,
    S/He becomes a Builder,
And can them blame what has happened.
If the Thinker does not help,
Then the Thinker can only blame him/herself,
    For not being a Builder.

I really enjoyed reading this "work" It really made me think and I also wanted to tell you that again, I love the no use of titles, for me it really helps me to focus on the work and understanding the work alone... you are a true artist, who isnt an artist in a box so do definitions are needed to validate...

I thank you for your comment, and I have read some of yours, and enjoy them as well.

one must think of what one is building to construct. A slacker is merly someone that does something that others don't consider anything...The one that complains, could of been a slacker with much time on ones hands, and became a person who complained... and eventually thought of a solution, and thought to build, and the builder was there all along, from the moment the mind built an opinion on what they would do... sometimes the thinker needs a builder to construct the idea, but then the builder see's the thinker as a slacker but the builder turned into a thinker when he thought of how much he builds and how he will build the thought,,, and then through thinking, becomes the one who complains for plans are a step by step manouvre that needs all to survive.... what do you think?? the defining question

Well each can be one of each, there is no denying that, but within the events, we are only one of each. By what I mean with each 'definition' is not that the builder does not think, and the thinker can not build, or the slacker does neither. But that when one has an idea and follows it through, even if problems ensue or can not think of what to do, then they are still producing something, even if it takes later to actually make or go into effect. By Thinker, I just meant someone who criticize others works, and do not help when they see a problem, or do anything after. They simply complain of what they would have done, with out actually doing anything. If you do not mind what is going on, and not going to fuss, then you would be considered a Slacker through this, but if you have an idea, and build it, then you are a Builder. If you are a slacker, and then complain of someone elses work and say what you would have done differently, with out doing anything about it, then you are a Thinker. BUT, if you were a Slacker, and notice something, and fix it, then you have become a Builder, simply because you did something about it, and not just stared at it. At any point a Thinker can change roles into a Builder by simply doing something about it or telling the original Builder. Each role we are, but its what we do in moments that change what we could be 'called' or 'thought of'. I hope this helps, if not, PM, and Ill try to word it better. Thank you for your comment though, I look forward from hearing from you.
