    Kamalei

    I watch those bright green eyes dance with delight;
    She gobbles up her chocolate cupcake with sheer and utter abandon
    Chocolate morsels dotting her little white teeth, frosting circling her rosebud mouth, and dark curls bouncing up and down as she hops around the kitchen, deliriously happy, as her chubby little hands covet her treasure.

    She is pure joy; Pure emotion; Pure contentment.
    I marvel at how fast she learns! At 1 1/2 yrs she has anger management issues. She stomps her feet and throws her head back when she is denied anything, for her current state is pure want, and her demands simply must be met.

    I tell myself she is a spoiled little girl....who needs that many dresses and ribbons? Who needs that many toys? Why do I feel driven to surround her in everything pink and velvet and completely feminine? Why do I secretly smile when she is yelling at the top of her lungs because someone dared to refuse her something?

    Why? For the same reason I allow her to devour a chocolate cupcake while in her jammies and supposedly going to bed....because she said "Gamaw"....she flashes those big green eyes with their ridiculous black lashes and sweetly coos my name...."Gamaw"....and the world is her oyster.

    What need's to be said. I have two children, and they have my heart!

    Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.
