Layaway

This I swear, until the day that I die.
I'll never give up, like the sparrow in the sky.
God is watching and I don't know why.
I'm way down here and HE's way up high.

Perhaps there is beauty in everything HE sees.
Whether I'm on top of a mountain or in the midst of poverty.
I'll never give up, like the sparrow in the sky.
God is watching and I don't know why.

I remember back when I had no friends,
because I hated everyone equally and made no mends.
Full of rage and hate because I had no sense.
Until I followed my heart and jumped over the fence.

Now Im on the other side, outside lookin in.
Seeing how I was, seeing what I did.
God is watching and I dont know why.
I'm way down here and He's way up high.

I've never candy-coated anything because nothing ever is.
You love to see me fall, because I seen you when I did.
I turn over new leaves because thats how I fly.
God is watching and I think I know why.

I am beautiful and I just keep trying, and in the back of my
mind, I know that HE's spying.
I'm walking now, but soon I'll be flying.
So these prices on lessons are for the wings that I'm buying.

Hey Brad! This is a very nce piece. Deep and inspirational. I really like the ending and the new awakening it portrays. God is watching - and you do know why. Great job!

this was a life lesson to all that live with no regard, that there is a better way. the character in this poem was very believeable. great job on the visuals.

Beautifully spiritual. Nice rhyme scheme. I enjoyed this very much.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
