Poem Commentary

On looking into a Lover's Gambling Past.

Loves Gambler

Angled toward another room,

avoiding your glance.

Frozen in contemplation,

not allowing a chance.

Simple words, not explored,

found there way into my mind.

Gestures not made, stored,

fast on the edges of time.

Locked in repose,

hopeful not to expose.

Your stinging glare was jacked.

My system resisted being hacked.

Thankful, when you retired.

I rested, expiring with the setting sun.

Thoughts you flung could not rewire,

what haggard pre-course had done.

What jets you send along,

carried, maybe, by the throng.

Screamed on whispered lips.

Sailed on swaggered hips.

Found not their way into my stable.

Reached their end, but were unable.

To clabber on and fail they may,

Breach to jolt another day.

Since long ago, what was, was known,

and eager eyes look on and on.

Give up on wagers that you lost.

Fate does not give another toss.

Thanks, Marion for reading" Loves Gambler" and your comments.I would be interested in your perspective on some of my older poetry, such as "Hearth" or "Carriage".

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
