Lurks A Villain

Poem Commentary

I was somewhere dark for sure.

Lurks A Villain

Lurks a villain we all know

Wicked thought and actions show

Angry, wanton baited breath

Sired in eternal nastiness

Stolen cold dug upon it’s breast

Ambling chains of dying rest

Sampling once a victim’s blood

Where a dangling dagger stood

Fortune lost and dabbler’s gold

Seeming wasted, stabbing bold

Making marks in horror’s fest

Sounds leaking into blackness

Hanging. piercing violent lust

Blankets all the quiet dust

Joining, lunge and darkness slice

Knowing of the painful price

This is a piercing piece. The words are coated with dark reflection, yet the acceptance of the struggles of everyday life are vividly conveyed. Great job!

A Halloween fright and very well done it is. It's fun to just let go. I like it.

thanks, I wasn't thinking Halloween, except it did occur to write during the season.

"Where a dangling dagger stood" — so perfectly surreal! So perfectly dark and dismal.

thanks for your words, it was dark for me, as I don't often write dark material.

I've never been into the gooly gobblin, blood n' guts mentality thing myself... Horror is just the human mind turned loose the wrong way... Personally, I try to stay out of the Dark Side every chance I get... lol... But, there are those who appreciate that type of thing for their own reasons, I guess... I'm not sure the character word "villan" is the best choice for this "creepnoid" in your piece though... Sort'a makes him/her sound more like a train robber than night mangler to me... But, hey.. What's in a word anyway, eh...??? lol... Great piece of work... 10 here....

villain, may not be the right word, I will now do a search on it. Thanks for your comments.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
