    Maine or Bust

I live in tropical paradise and the Gulf of Mexico sits outside my door, but South Florida has gone south for me.

Nothing bad happened, but neither have I been quite happy
Happy is the dream we all wake from and yearn to return
Everyone, at least once, for one moment has experienced Happiness
God's most wretched child, warty old man and scarred beauty has tasted a moment of pure joy
and all us wretched warty scarred humans cry for more
    How do you hold it
how do you not lose it
where do you turn once it's gone
Private Investigator can't find it for you
only you, and that you is I
I need to feel happiness again
    So I'm going to Maine
Maybe I'll find it being sold on the side of the road
Maybe I'll find it near the bottom of a pond
Who know's what could happen in Maine
    I know what's here
    What's there
    Buy a van
    pack my bags and paintings
    and leave this same
    go find me some new
put that smile back on my face
and get with the getting on

A one way road trip will do many of us good. Nice write.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
