    Poem Commentary

Only You can prevent forest fires.

    "Memorandum To The Masked Masses"

    Memorandum To The Masked Masses

Live and let live or let die.

I fasten my mask and take to the sky

Fly…fly away home or far away from

I’ve been told there is no room for it in my heart…

I’ve got the ability to hate all if I can hate one…

Something even my nemesis should escape from

    Synergy with my enemies?

Should I rehabilitate or obliterate…it’s killing me.

Behind this mask I’m wallowing in villainy…

    The epitome of illiteracy…

I can’t even read myself amidst this imagery…

    of what my image means…

    imagine if my image bleeds…

    and I become what I fight against…

    a villain’s seed

Taken over by a litany of killer deeds...

preying on the weak instead of praying for delivery...

or is it deliverance...or is it anything?

    Maybe I should be focusing...

    on letting things...

    pull my heart strings...

    letting light shine...

    getting rid of dark rings...

much to the chagrin...of the evils harping...

    on..and marching...on...and marching...

    on...and even still...marching...

    brushing over harp strings...

so I can let my art sing...

But still damned if I'm still damned...

    the world calls...

    harsh rings...

    I put on my mask...

    sip from my flask...

that same bottle filled with hatred.

    I'm still a stranger...

to the outside world...to which I project a villain's anger...

but look upon it with bewilderment...wishing I could be its changer...

    .

    .

    .

    .

I wouldn't be the first masked crusader to be a savior.

    .

    .

    .

    .

    Heroes unite.

Thanks much ken...i am glad you think so highly of my work. To answer your question...I try to always don the hero mask...but I have been told on more than one occasion and by more than one person that there is something within my eyes that begs to wear the other one. That is kind of messed up if you think about it lol.

that reminds me of the latest batman movie. I can't remember who said it but one of the characters said you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villain. I love the flow. Very nicely written.

Reminds me of the old saying, keep your friends close and your enemies closer. 10

The strongest warriors are those who can empathize with their enemies and still avoid the trap of getting too close and becoming one of them. I loved the unique perspective and was moved by the internal struggle. Phenomenal!

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
