Poem Commentary

This poem is about my mother-in-law who passed from this life on May 8, 1999 from Cancer. Through the course of my young marriage, we had our ins and outs, but she was always there with an open heart, and a forgiving spirit. I grew to love her as a person, and have missed her helping hands since her passing. This poem is in honor of the most wonderful mother-in-law that a guy could have...Catherine Ford Burton, and dedicated to her husband, William, her daughters, Kim and Amy, and her sons, William Jr., and Terry, and to all of our extended families.

'MOM'

Loving eyes...
Reflecting pain
Seeing our tomorrow
Without your presence

Gentle hands...
Caressing touch
Creating memories
With those you love

Warm embrace...
Bringing sunshine
To our dreary days
That lie ahead

Kindly words...
Speaking reproof
To wayward eyes
Now filled with tears

Forgiving soul...
Offering peace
Repaying pain
With love's embrace

Contented heart...
Worshipping Savior
Bowing to King
That now holds your hand

Resting peacefully...
Ever Vigilant
Observing the lives
Of family and friends

Thank you 'Mom'...
We'll see you soon
On cloud of Glory
In Beulah Land

You wrote that well my friend.. My mom died when I was 12 and my sisters 2,3,and 4. I've wrote many about her passing but i posted one called March 27 and no one's read.. I know i was older then my sisters when my mom died but i didn't know her all that much either and I've always hated Christmas and mother's day and easter. My mom was born on christmas eve 2 minutes before christmas day... I guess it's wrong to say those days i hate, but not for the reason's they were made. Just the feelings I have and most people take those holidays and twist them in the wrong ways, if you know what i mean..?

I could relate to many of the feelings and the loss portrayed in this piece. I lost my first and only true love(of 18 yrs) in November of 1997(my late husband), and then my loving father, whom I was very close, passed in January 2005. I can feel and relate to your sense of loss and the emptiness one feels from the death of someone so near and dear to one's heart. Great Job!

A true Hallmark moment. Beautiful, written from a GRAND heart and sent with delicate sentiment,, made me cry. it's hard to type..

She must have been a very virtuous woman. The strenght and character of a lady that bonded and gave love true. You have honored her with your words and your wife.

I really enjoyed this poem. I liked how you broke things down into groups and specifically wrote how she touched your life in certain ways. I'm sure she is honored you wrote something so kind and full of emotion to honor her. I bet she's up in heaven looking over you and your family!
