    Poem Commentary

As i get older, i find that I'm judged by my age rather than my ability to do the job that I've been doing for years. I'm here to to tell you age discrimination is alive and well

    My Cover

I’m not getting any younger, though I’ve come to realize.

They judge me by my wrinkles and the age that’s in my eyes.

They look at the man before them, my hair of gray and white.

They say that I can’t do the job, that I’ve been doing all my life.

My minds not what it once was, but I’ve got knowledge you can’t replace.

So don’t judge me by my cover or these lines upon my face.

I’ve lived my life with passion, my course has been tried and true.

I’ve done nothing that I’m ashamed of, the proof is in everything I do.

There are rights and wrongs that I’ve pondered, the challenges I’ve met with glee.

I’ve embraced this life with honor, in this land “that’s brave and free”.

So do me just one favor, when my time has come to pass.

Thank the ones that have believed in me, tell the rest to “kiss my ass”!!!

Beautifully composed, and you voice the truth on this, I often think back if I had not quit my Job at the Acute Hospital ( after a head on collision..and went into business for myself .).how long... would it of been after I trained all new hires... before I was let go....good write, Blessings! It's sad that we face the scrutiny of others due to our age, I do my job just as well if not better than most I work with. But because my hair is white, they treat my as if I losing my touch. Thanks for reading and commenting on my poem about us of the older generation!

Thanks for the comment, I find as I get older I'm judged more on my age than my ability to do the job. So that's why I decided to write " my Cover "
