    my quilted existence

A series of pieces tediously sewn together

    Bunches of fabric-overlapping one another.

    Meshing together as one.

    My life experiences hand stitched,

    Machine Washed.

    Bleached, ripped.

    My quilted existence-covers my soul.

    Warms my memories.

    Patch-worked in an uneven fashion.

Patterned in a series of blurred events.

    A couple rips,

A couple tares here and there.

    Over worn. Beaten.

Battered. Laying on top of my body.

Protecting my present state of mind with all my past endeavors,

    Unfinished and frayed,

For events are still unfolding. Uncovering themselves.

A series of tediously sewn together pieces,

    Forming a big protective blanket.

One that covers all my past mistakes,

Expanding as i grow. Wearing out as i age.

     My life experiences hand stitched.

    Imperfect. uneven.

    My fingers bleed.

    My hands over worked.

My thoughts beautifully intertwined with golden thread.

My quilted existence covers my soul,

    Protects my former battle wounds.

    Shields me from further injury,

My quilted existence covers my soul.

And one day might just tell an interesting story.

Damn that was vivid. The beauty of the golden thread mixed with the rips and tears of the tribulations along the path. Tied to a metaphor of the fabric. You played the parallel well. Easily visioned the connection between you and the fabric.

Very mature writing for your age. It has my name in it, so that's always a plus. I do like the metaphor of the quilt. It does sing. One small error, probably a typo, tares for tears. But otherwise a great read!

I like the depth of this. It shows how many of us feel.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.
