Not Meant To Be

Not Meant To Be

John, I am writing this poem for you
To help you understand about me too.
Your thoughtfulness and manners surely outweigh
All of the men I have ever met I have to say.

Dropping me off at the door to keep me from getting cold
Well that in itself would never grow old.
I appreciate your thoughtfulness when opeing the door
What a gentleman who could ask for anything more.

Holding my hand in a very special way
Now I will think back to those two wonderful days.
You have a passion for God up above
Although I believe I don't share that great of a love.

Thirty years ago you had a crush on me
We met again but it just wasn't meant to be.
God threw us together I don't understand his plan
All I know is that I met a wonderful man.

Stay true to your passion for it is part of you
Keep on believing it is the right thing to do.
I thank God for the time that we had
But I can't help but feel a little sad.

Hoping against hope that you were the one
But my search continues now that we are done.
I hold no grudges as we part
Thank you for filling up a piece of my heart.

Sad, inspite of all what u've said he's not the one for you. Still a great poem.

Thank you very much for your kind words.

your poem is delicate, and you are such a lady.... many aren't so nice during a relationship ending.. And most of us have ventured into the land of meeting what seems like the perfect partner, but there are too many Problems or Differences...and for the most part, we do recall and keep the best that we like in the person, and the next 'hopeful love' seems to be even better yet... I don't remember ever going backwards... I do remember saying, once.... to myself, every day for over a year... "This just means my love is still waiting for me..."

There is no reason to be mad. Why would someone want to stay with someone else if that person doesn't want them around. I don't stay where I am not wanted. It is that simple. Life is too short.

Fina, your poem is a wonderful lament of happiness, and sadness. Sometimes we wonder why things happen in one way, and then, ends in another way...good or bad, we learn to accept His fate. A fine piece by you Fina............................g

Thank you very much. Life is always full of surprises and that is what makes it exciting!

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
