    Of Destiny and Station

    She didn’t know much about destiny,

    When her father gave her to the king;

    Sudden to be joining royalty-

    The privileged future that would bring.

    But she was well aware of station

    And spoke such nuance well;

    This now became her obligation

    To serve inside his citadel.

    She never got to choose

    If she’d rather be afield,

    It was never hers to lose,

    Solely hers, if first she’d yield.

    But destiny would leave its mark,

    And bludgeon her with purple hue,

    Once the truth all mute but stark,

    Convinced of nothing she could do.

    Once his perfidy was fully seen,

    As the insolent shameful thing,

    “Balls,” cried out the injured queen,

    “If I had two, I would be king!”

    Found time for one more of you poems. You do have a lighter side. I loved this and suspect it was one of the queens of days of yore.

    Yo her father was a fraud, wannabe. he should of known better. What happened to Daddy's little girl. she was locked up in the kings power trip. I despise lofty people, enslaving people to become their peasants. in her case a prisoner to subjugation. Very sad but very true.

    Atrocious life for her no matter the privileges of the grander life; to be so mismatched to someone.

    If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
