    Poem Commentary

There exist's no historic or archeological record of Camelot or Arthur or the grail. there are some who believe a tale about Jesus's teenage years, and a Sea Merchant of that day by the name of Joseph of Arimathea, who allowed his tomb to be used for the burial of Christ, for Joseph of Arimathea was allowed to sail to the Isle of Gaul, and the coast of what we call England and France. Roman records do have a listing for a man of this name who engaged in sea travel and business.

    oh to be in Camelot

long ago in the time of man
    when chivalry reigned

    sorcery battled to and fro
dragons and unicorns filled the land

    a lady was  honored
    and virtues where kept

    a sword in stone
    a lady of the lake

    fate was chosen by birth
    lives ruled by incantation

    jousting with feasting
    round table and empty chairs

    the fabled grail
    quest ruled the heart

    legends arose only too die
    as all pass with time

    in the heart's of man
    lives anon and evermore

this is a great write~ and I recently watched a show on the History channel that was about new findings which suggest that Camelot may have been an actual place in England! I think that rates right up there with the whole Troy thing~ juz thought ya might like to know ;)

ty,The first reference to Camelot and it's legends appears in a French romance novel in and around 1170 AD, and the name is believed to come from the chosen Roman Capital for Britain, during it's reign.

I had saved the program, but looks like the Giant deleted it~ they found the foundations of a large castle wall which encompassed a city~ it wasn't a very large scale thing~ but so far they think it was active for about a hundred years~ there are older tales that do not specifically say the name Camelot, but do tell a bizarrely similar tale~ the thinking of the scientists from the program is that the story is much older than we think~ it's all debatable right now and they need lots more excavation at the site~ but it is intriguing! =)

This was a great read, I love the unusual structure. But the theme really cut to my poetic heartstrings. I like to think that chivalry is still alive, laying low waiting to re-emerge at a future date, when society is not so caught up pop culture and television.

The myth and roamnce of Camelot is succinctly narrated. The diction is faultless. The musicality is very simple and very pleasant, wihout losing its fantasy. The short verses add a sort of voluptuous enchantment surprisingly to this poem. Short verses tend to givve a lively tempo to other poems of a classical nature.

    ty, kind friend

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
