Only So Far

Only So Far

it's the water in the sky
the sand in the sea
the wind in your hair
and the smell of you on me
that draws me close
and drags me down
swallows my lust
till my lungs must drown
in  the heaven of your presence
and the hell of your absence
and the in-between
when im not sure what just happened
follow you in circles
precious moments
minor miracles
too sick and too sweet
too thick to drink
water and sky
sand and sea
air and light
vacuum of night
breathing in my heart
and dying in my dreams
each night and dawn
a new leaf
falling from grief

What a gritty, passionate, and earthy piece! Great writing my friend! "the heaven of your presence, the hell of your absence, and the in-between" (a resounding 10!!!)

very well written a journey through the frustrations of passion it would appear. I love the heaven and hell reference. I enjoyed this piece.

I like this its very emotional...I have felt this to. I also sense that there is something missing from it but dont know what and there seems to be love and pain here but not sure. Amad it is a great poem and nothing seems to be wrong with it, this is just what i feel when i read it. Keep writing great work

its bittersweet...i think you caught the sense of it quite well...there is something missing, its the viewpoint of a man who had something beautiful and lost it...

I enjoyed the poem and it speaks to me with love and loss. I Sense a great deal of pain and unfortunatley I can more than relate.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
