Our Foster Children

Our Foster Children

Lost and abandoned
Left all alone,
No mommy, no daddy
No shelter, no home

Away they were taken
And placed in our care
Our arms reach to hold them
Our hearts ache to share

A home were providing,
Not the biggest or best
But its here, and its stable,
Unlike the rest.

Their mom, she still talks
Every day on the phone
They cry that they miss her
And shes all alone.

How do we tell them
That when she calls
The reason she slurs
Is the damned alcohol.

The drugs have consumed her
Shes completely obsessed
Her life is in shambles
Her mind is a mess.

We try to show them
That we will always be here
To listen and love them
Each year after year

We hope that they learn
To live straight and strong
To show kindness to others
To do right , not wrong

We pray that their blessed
By the seeds we have sown
And that they will guide them
Untill they are grown.

We do love them dearly, and hope they are with us always. Thanks for the comment!

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
