    Outside

    The afternoon sun

    kisses her cold face,

As a note of sadness dangles

    from her longing eyes.

    She sits quietly

    watching the water

    lapping languidly at the seawall.

    For a fluid transcendent moment

    she is there

    all present.

    Looking for words,

    Embraced by the wind,

    Letting go,

    the sun kissing her face.
