"Play It By Ear"

Play It By Ear

Pebbles fall
Bubbles burst
Cars…reverse
Stair ways to stars are drawn…
When chords…are…rehearsed

When heart hurts
…it’s off beat
A soft sneak turns into a soft creep
When a thief in the night off peak…

Takes off his sneak…
Ers…grrrs…
Booms, bangs, and pows…
Come out of speakers

Searchers for purpose…
The loudest seekers
A cloud of ether…
Rains down these weepers…

Hard key strokes control alternate deleters
Desktops need defragmenting…
Create complicated sweepers
New tech talk reveals ultimate features...

Eureka! Light bulb…birth of the…
Awesomest creature

Put this on a sphere and let it all reverb…

Waves crash against sea birds…
That’s what we heard
Cast off the pole…
Swim…

Go deeper

Hinge on a teeter
Totter as a leader
We all fall down…
Not that either

If he’s a fast eater...
Digest…completer
He’s strong willed…
Guess who’s weaker

I’d fly a kite…
But rather I’d prefer…
To sprout wings…
Because arms are meager

But we flock ground level…
Swear we’re not bleaters…
Then those lily pad lads concur…
Their the highest leapers.

Jeepers…creepers…

Notes on a page for…
Minor readers

Now put it on a globe and let it all reverb…

While it spins on its axis…
Nothing’s what we heard
Click…goes the light switch…
Let’s not cheapen this cheaper…

By visualizing these def tones…
.
.
.
Play it by ear
.
.
.
Good night…sleepers

wow! I love the cadence of this one... pulled me in from the start and made it impossible to choose just a few favorite lines... everything flows so great together that each line requires the next and previous... awesome write! keep up the great work! ;)

COUSINSOREN'S COMMENT EDITTED: Wow! Whey! The imagery and objects thrown together in this poem are just too much to digest in a single readIng,,,,,,,,,LOL. Surrealistic poets are scarce on OP,though the present day exponents are proliferating in the wider world. Poets of onomatopoeiaic verses are also almost non- exiatent on OP. Malik Peterson seems to have mastered the art of surrealiam and onomatopoeia. The only other poet ,I can immediately think of who occasionally resorts to suggestive sounds and odd combinations of objects or words is John WordSlinger. (Correct me with proof if you think I have erred) Malik Peterson's diction in this poem synchrnizes, is novel, rapid, suspenseful , exciting and consistent within a sureealistic format, The diction is pleasing as it is not a random throwing together of nonsensical phrasing as being crudely done to crude music by the DJ's of a certain island. I know very well. . The cadence could be improved by punctuation. The tempo is deftly crafted to please poetry lovers who have a fancy for snappy, ritzy jazz, and fast, energetic dynamic rendition of verse. My rating for this novel piece is a full 10+ Note that he poem ends with a theatrical flourish, "click goes the light switch?. ......LOL

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
