Biography

About the author:

Ryan was a child prodigy in the realm of verse. Though he wrote numerous poems from early childhood, it was only at the age of 12 that he wrote the first of his many poems he considered a "keeper". All "non-keepers" he destroyed, so all of his work prior to age 12 (and much of it after, as well) has been lost to posterity. I hope you enjoy his work. His first poem "The Most Hated Thing" has been posted here. More will follow. Take care in your flight, Mr. Shreve. Your poetic muse shall be missed.

Addendum: "The Truth" has been added! Ryan wrote this at the tender age of 14, when most adolecents were bemoaning their acne. He had a different view. At 16, his very first of many Sonnets, "Loss of Love" gained him national notariety.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.
