Biography

I was born and raised in New Orleans, LA where I lived for 24 years until I married. Then I moved to Chalmette, LA in St. Bernard Parish. I lived there for 30 yeras. My wife have been married for 34 years now with three daughters and were in our house 25 years, in Meraux, LA when Hurricane Katrina struck on August 29,2005.Of course as did thousands we lost everything. Also I was a Firefighter for the Parish when the storm struck and stayed for the storm with the rest of the Fire Dept. I started writing as a release from the pain, depression and feeling of helplessness. Most of the poems are storm related and a few are not. It was a release. My family and I now live outside of Hammond, LA on the North Shore of Lake Pontchtrain. I retired from the Fire Dept. in July after 28 years as a Fire Capt. My writiings have slowed down over the past few months but I plan to increase them along with some short stories. I also like to read, listen and play music. I hope anyone who reads my poems enjoys them and i welcome any comments.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
