    "The Soul of a Woman"

    Whenever I'm walking by,
    What do you really see?
    Is it my outward appearance?
Or do you seek the inner me?

    Sometimes it's just so hard,
To make it in this world.
    But I must remain strong,
For the sake of my baby girl.

    My heart feels so heavy,
And my soul seems so lost.
But God please help me make it,
Help me to pay the cost.

    I often feel so empty,
    Like no one truly cares.
Lord I feel like my burdens,
Are far more than I can bare.

Men say they want good women,
But can you tell me why?
When I do give my all,
I'm the one left hi and dry.

    I've opened up my heart,
    I have let people in.
But when all was said and done,
It was me hurt once again.

I try to be so strong,
I try so hard no to cry.
    But it's so so hard,
    To hide this pain inside.

    So many things are happening,
And I'm yet to find a clue.
So I'm asking you dear Lord,
Tell me what I need to do.

I won't let the world break me,
For there's much for me to gain.
I won't be overwhelmed with sadness,
    Or consumed by my pain.

    Whenever I'm walking by,
Now tell me what you see.
    Is it my outward appearance?
Or do you see the inner me!!

Wow.....is that us poets feel the pain more so that's why we express it so???? I feel as if I'm in your mind...sweeeeeet Love will come when you least expect it and not just for you but for your child as well

I really like this poem. Don't give up and don't ever just "settle" for someone because you are lonely. Take care of your baby girl and teach her to be a strong woman.

I really like this piece Mitzi because it not only asks the question about you yourself but it touches on the sensitive nature of your inner soul as you get an understanding from your wisdom that you have asked God to reveal to you as a child and a mother. This is a classic in the making. I also love the way that your ninth stanza states how you wont let the world break you because of all you can accomplish and not let sadness and pain consume you. Very nicely done.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
