    • It is a new year and I can't wait to read all my friends new poetry.

    Romanian and American Passion

    We share a passion:  Food.
    Our kitchen scintillates
    with polenta that awaits,
    until baked to perfection.

    Like our blended lives,
    Delicate hands have sliced
    verdure until diced
    into a sensuous stew.

    He fries onions, garlic to
    a patient shade of tan
    adds spices to the pan
then rescues all . . .just in time.

    Seminal migrant hands
    patient with every
    green leaf and savory
    spice.  The salad is tossed.

    I await our shared passion.
    A paper-thin phyllo dough
filled, wrapped in butter . . slow
    bonding with gentle fingers.

His hands pulse as he serves me.
I take my first taste and moan.
We devour all with a groan.
    Tomorrow we will dine American.

wheelsal, I loved that you share Romanian cuisine in poetic verse. This poem brings the reader into your kitchen watching the hands do their work of preparation.A delicious and tangible setting. ginga
