    Secret Love

    I think of you now and then,
    everytime I think of skiing in Utah,
    or hear James Taylor sing "Fire and Rain".
    Every beautiful sunset over the Pacific;
    Backgammon - Volleyball - UCLA and Westwood...

    I wonder what might have been?
    Would I be a doctors wife?
    Would I have been one of those ladies who
    lunch at the Charthouse in Hollywood Riviera?

    You were meant to be successful;
    You were bred for it.
    Your CEO Dad and perfectly coiffed Mom would have nothing less.

    I was the daughter of a contractor..
    My Dad wore levis and drove a truck;
    Your Dad wore silk suits and drove a cadillac.
    Your Mom played golf. My Mom bowled.

    But you loved me; I know you loved me.
    I was fifteen and you were twenty two, but we were soulmates!
    We could've been so happy if only they would have left us alone!

    Ah, it's just as well I guess; I like beer better than champagne anyway, and pretentious women give me a pain in the.....well, you know....you're the doctor.

    There are so many depths of reality revealed and explored in your world lost and found,,, we all have our own thoughts of what if. Your personal experience shared with the reader becomes very visible through your written voice! 10

    i liked it, a lot of attitude to compensate for the differences in rearing. Also the dry humor at the end was so apropos to the story...nice job sk...

    Memories of that one we let go; this is a beautiful write along memory lane, brutal and sweet to the point of dreamy.

    Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

    Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
