Separation Anxiety

Separation Anxiety

I open my eyes and reality hits,
and I realize that you are gone.
It takes a few seconds to clear the fog,
and then I know I'm all alone.

The nights we share are monumental,
a passion that knows no bounds.
Yet, the morning after, when I awake,
the only thing to recall are the sounds

and sights of love we shared once more.
I think of how our lives have become one
the way they were so many years ago,
finally softening my heart of stone.

I love you more than God should allow
any one person to ever be loved,
but I thank Him daily for bringing you back.
It's like the stars have all moved.

Time will be on our side this time
and I will show you that I mean every word
when I look at you again in fifty years
and kiss your lips like it was the first.

I see those eyes that made me swoon
and I smile knowing the love they show.
And even when you are gone from me,
it is only a short time apart, I know.

Your scent, your taste, your skin so soft
is enough to drive any man mad,
and when I am away from you too long
it's nearly more than I can stand.

Your beauty is more than it has ever been
and I feel so lucky that you're at my side.
And when we are with our kids as well,
that is a day I look forward to with pride.

Abscence makes the heart grow fonder,
truer words have never been spoken.
Being separated from the woman I adore
only leaves me feeling broken.

I know you love me without saying a word
because it is in every move you make,
whether that move is beside me in public
or in private  making the foundations shake.

We will be together soon, this I know.
Until then we will have to make due
with the time God give's us together
and you at last can say, ''I Do.''

thanks, this woman is the only one to ever make me feel the way i do, ever since we were teens.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
