    she sits in her room

    She sits in her room

Staring at the bruises on her body

Her parents screaming just outside her door

    Both intoxicated and furious

    Feeling alone and helpless

Tears start streaming from her eyes

    Blood flows from her arms

As she searches for a way out

A way to escape her reality

She smiles as she grasps the knife

She lays down and closes her eyes

Only to never open them again

Reading this made me sad and anxious, I found myself thinking of you often and praying that you were OK. Saying this is also stating how powerful your words are and how we connect to the pain we feel is real for you. I hope your words are more from creativity and talent than from truth.

When someone bares their soul this way, it gives them strength to endure. I truly believe that. I feel your pain when I read your poem. I grew up in a very dysfunctional family, my father was an alcoholic and my mother was this timid woman who rarely protected her children. But even though I came from a depressing abusive childhood, I overcame a lot and I'm a stronger better person today for it. Thank you for sharing your poem. Peace and Love, Prettypoetcindy

you are a very good person to put out what you feel. that is the way to show the world how you feel. that is great. because it is what i do. we are special people who write poetry . keep up the great work

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
