Poem Commentary

I wrote this to my oldest daughter when she was 16.She wanted to grow up but yet she still wanted to be a little girl.To me she will always be my little girl.I love her so.Funny,I read it to her today at age 31 now & she laughed and said she sometimes still feels that way.

SHE'S SO MATURE

SHE'S SO MATURE

To me she's but a child
About a lot she's still unsure.
Not really knowing what she wants,
But in many ways she's so mature.

She does and then she doesn't
She really isn't sure.
Yes I like him, well maybe not
But in many ways she's so mature.

I'll wear this,no maybe this
I'm really not so sure.
Yes your right or maybe not
But in many ways, she's so mature.

She's just a little girl
But yet I'm not so sure.
To me she's just a little girl
But in many ways she's so mature.

Sometimes she thinks she wants God
Then other times she's unsure.
I believe she says,or maybe I don't
But in many ways she's so mature.

This is more for love, than poetry, but I understand.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
