Slip Away From the Darkness

Poem Commentary

I wrote this for a friend who was struggling with taking care of her mother with alzheimer's.  I was also caring for a man with end stage emphysema.  He was a good strong Christian man and needed desperately to let go.

Slip Away From the Darkness

Slip away from the darkness,

            and go into the light.

Tho’ my head does deceive me,

in my heart, I do know.

That your reduction is increase

            in opportunities to show

what His love is about.

            You received, then you gave,

now receive Him again.

His love constantly flowing

            as a soft breeze blowing,

oft times bursting with color.

            Flowering, blooming;

                        like no other.

                                                     Love.

What is love, who to love,

                       why love, how to love

                                                     Forever love.

This is a very cool write. I had the idea it was about a dying person before I read the description so your message was well put. I can also see how it would relate to a person with Alzheimer's. Good work here

Thanks so much! I will check out some of yours! God Bless

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
