Small Talk

Sing me tender “Hallelujahs” for my heart has broken

Rain within floods my eyes, and I’m tripping as I step

Take all my goods, I”m cashing in, just trade me for some token

That love beyond awaits me, past this veil of vain regret.

Sing me golden sweet surrender songs in dulcet lullaby

My ears are tired of all the noise that lands on me abrading

Do not disdain the manhood hid within my silent cry

Now that every joy has vanished and even hope lies fading

Life’s fortunes have just lain me low, bruised and long neglected

Rich men’s greed foils poor men’s need for money just to live

But bread alone doth not reprieve, some else needs resurrected

So sing “Hallelujahs” if you can, I’ll take whatever you can give

I need to hear, the glory songs once sung in Sabbath School

‘Twas where I learned my rights from wrongs escaping final wrath

But dogma, doctrine cannot save the earstwhile flagrent fool

Who knows but simply chooses, the compromising path.

I’ve churned through friends, but in the end, I sleep my nights alone

Away from some embracing heart, that might have healing power

Oh, if there was but one more year, new deeds might thus atone

But here I am with only you, breathing out my final hour.

So, please sing some ‘Hallelujah” to me, for God certainly is true

That gospel blood on Calvary still washes clean all sin

I just need the faith that it’s for me, as much as its for you

So, chat me through my dying task, to let such small talk win.

to be alone in a room of many is the sad part . For it means no one has ever touched your heart . To love and be loved back is when we are a part of life . Geat write Marie

oh lord my God, when I in awesome wonder, consider all the worlds thy hands have made. I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder...thy power throughout the universe displayed...then sings my soul, my savior God to thee - How great Thou art..... (sunday school songs for you Harv...and you know that is a gift :) ) great write, no one should die alone - or uncertain.

Seems this man's unfortunate end is near and he glimpses at his life and plays it out but in the end asks for maybe forgiveness but small talk if someone would please give it to him. Kind of sad that he was not very happy and fulfilled in his life. May have even chose greed more then else. I love the life's experiences you play out for the reader. Not a life I would want to end with. Great write Harvy! Always! Hugz

But, and I think I know this about you, you would happily spend that hour with one so needy. Because love fills your selfless heart. Harv

When that is all that's left, one hopes that will be enough. Harv
