Poem Commentary

This was written during a very dark period in my life. Sadly, Im still trying to work through it.

Solitary

What is it like to be alone
It's an empty void from within
That nothing can fill

It's being locked inside yourself
Desparately wanting to get out
But not knowing how

Calling out in the darkness
But receiving no answer
Lost in the wilderness of life
Crying out for help
But receiving only the hollow sound
Of your own echo

Your bitter tears are your only companion
Youre a grain of sand on the beach
Though you are among many
No one notices
Some may mold you
Into objects to amuse them
But soon the tides come in
And once again, youre alone

Always longing, always yearning
Hoping for tomorrow, but fearing the dawn
Wondering when the pain will end
If it does at all

Its welcoming sleep with open arms
For with sleep you find your dreams
And within your dreams you find your peace

Exactly true, "For with sleep you find your dreams/ And within your dreams you find your peace" and not only peace do you find you find your true self hidden within and its connect to the universe. In the universe you are never alone and the void is filled. Well done and well stated. Love, peace and freedom, Olan.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
