    Poem Commentary

I have been having a hard time at home lately, and this is what's coming out of it. Everyone tells me to write about it. I don't know if that's making it better, but I am trying. I should be painting... But I can't right now. I am not in the right state-of-mind. This is my way of filtering.

    Stars on the Ceiling

    Tell me who you are,
    I'm intoxicated.
    The pills are running short,
    and so is Dad's temper.

    Mommie is leaving us today...
And Baby is in the corner
    playing with her dolly.
The dogs are on the floor,
    spread out like wild fire.

I'll miss you when you're here,
because I know in your mind,
    that you're really not.
But I'll be here for you
when you come back to earth...

I'm yelling for you to come back to earth,
as I chase you through the constellations.
    Your feet touch the stars,
and my fingers caress the milky way.

I see the galaxy in your eyes tonight,
    lazily,
as you make your bed on the couch,
preparing for another trip to space,
to ride the rings of Saturn.

I like it. I too suffer from depression, but I have done some of my best writings this way. Writing IS a good release. Believe in yourself. Good job

it says that you are 17, is that true ? i guess it doesn't matter, when you are great, you are great. and great only gets better. i laugh at myself when i read your words because we are priviledged to the same alphabet but you arrange your letters like a genius and i cannot touch your talent....but thank god, i can read it. another 10 from me.

Oh my goodness... Thank you so much! I am 17... I will be 18 June 26th. I'm excited! Thank you so much for such a lovely comment. But in all honesty, I am no better than anyone else on this site...

I like the sort of distance I felt coming through, as if , acceptance with a melancholic pang... your writing is as powerful and impressive as always, Brandi!

This is a very beautiful poem. But the underlying sadness made me a lil sad for you :( I pray things will work out for the better. Keep on writing and painting, use the sadness and pain to create. The worlds greatest masterpieces are rooted in pain.

Thank you... I will take your advice with me. :)

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.
