SUNSHINE ON A WINTER'S DAY (c) Copyright 2009

Frigid, rigid, cold as ice

Layer upon layer blankets the life

That once beamed, once radiated deep within

Encapsulated now, a shield of sin

A shield of pain, landscape of hurt

The heart’s grown cold, an introvert

Frigid, rigid, cold as ice

Layers of snow, still rivers of white

Olive, emerald hues of grass

All but lost beneath the crass

Terrains of snow

Trampling life as they go

Rich, soft earth; thriving plants and brush

Buried under winter’s crush

But breaking through the clouds above

Example of the Master’s love,

Sunshine on a winter’s day

Icicles, snow shields melt away

There is no cold, no shield, no weight

The sun of God can’t penetrate

Its warm rays dissolve our shells

Destroy our icy prison cells

Every crevice of the heart

He’ll thaw and soothe every part

“Son-light” floating round and round

Like hot cocoa going down

Though it’s frosty cold outside

His flames of love warm you up inside

Breaking forth through clouds of gray

Like sunshine on a winter’s day.

Sorry that I didn't get back to you on reading this. It's a great poem, and you're right my Snowed In is similar, with the exception of the great use of Sun vs. Son of God, which is totally cool (pun not intended) by the way. Where my poems are clever on a humor basis, your poems are clever, not only in rhyme but also in timing. Repetition; perfection, rhyme choice; On inspection is much more ingenius than I could create. AWESOME!

Thank you so much for reading, GeniusMan... your comment made me read "Snowed In" again. I haven't been on here in so long, and I wanted to be refreshed. It's amazing how similar the two pieces are, but slightly different approaches. Glad you like this piece! Have a beautiful day ;-)

The rhythm here is so soothing and the imagery is...dare I say...picturesque? It moves through the mind like a...well...like a winter day when the sun is shining :) Take these kudos and keep them close to your heart :)

thanks for taking the time to enjoy it ;-)
