surrender

I am flawed
can you see me
beyond the damage
will you hold my brittle
crumbling edges together
for tonight can I be loved
for myself alone
I don't care anymore
for being virtuous
or noble
I've forgotten why it mattered
to stand on the side of right
and I just want to stop
fighting for ideas
I can't believe in anymore
is this the loss of innocence
the death of my idealism
I don't care anymore
I am consumed
devoured by pain
and aching loneliness
I have cried out to God
but he never returns my calls
his mercy never visits this dark arena
I never understood before
how blinded Justice is
there is no justice in convicting
when I've committed no crime
and my bitter, broken heart screams
tormented by it's empty purposeless pain
is there enough of you to encompass me
protect me from my ghosts
can I just be me
will you hold me in the dark
will you keep the demons away
will you swim through the sea of my tears
to rescue me and breathe new life
into a drowned heart
I don't need to see your face
I just need to feel your arms
and hear your whispered words
I am drunk with longing
and no longer afraid
to be unfettered

A rescue not needed with words you have displayed them well. maybe allowing your inner being to overcome hurt love will bring the soft voice spoken thru your words. Great write

There are so many in this world, it might as well be an abyss. you cries for help don't go unheard, they just fall upon the ears if the indifferent. Being alone is like being in the darkness, you cant tell which direction you're heading in. Maybe you will find someone who can navigate through the darkness.

Beautifully mournful and pleading. A poetic dance of desire to somehow be rescued... if even by a stranger.

I hear you, loud and clear ..........................................................................

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
