    Surrounding, Enveloping, You

Walking with you in my mind I come up short, realizing you're not beside me
When I'm with you the outside world and its people might as well not be
Every sappy song and poem, I want to sing and recite to you
It just takes the sound of your voice to make me feel un-blue
I've been waiting for a while and I've tried to search elsewhere
and the more I find, I am assured that no one can compare
You've pushed me away and now I'm pushing you
I don't know what to do and I feel like a fool
Sure, we're friends, but in the end will that hold strong?
I don't know if I can go on too long
You're missing me and you know I feel the same
I can never shake you, always somewhere in my brain
The thought of you keeps me going through the day and keeps me up at night
But being just friends, it doesn't seem right
I wish we could be more or that I could feel less
I guess this is just one of life's little tests

bravo, this is a great poem and deserves every point. good job

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
