Sweet Remembrance
These sweet dreams in remembrance,
to thee I give in parting.
memories fade
and wilt in time,
yet in my heart
they still remain-
will always remain.
Longing for
what could have been
wishes ungranted,
dreams unfulfilled.
How I crave
for just a moment,
time would stand still.
Perhaps in this
my soul may heal,
mend in tears
these words unspoken.
Resolute
in strength to yield
and forget my heart’s longing.
Love,
after all,
is but a comedy
acted upon the stage of life.
where all our imaginings
give way
to reality’s strife.
As silently
our hopes fade away
into the mist
of yesterdays.
