taking the air

taking the air

can I shake you hard enough
to rock your little world
to make you take a second look
see my red-rage unfurled

no matter how you twist my mind
no matter how you scheme
the day will never come
that I will be your self-esteem

you whip me with your anger
and lash me with your fear
your sullen ice-cold silences
make things crystal clear

the only reason I draw breathe
it would seem you do believe
is to stroke your swollen ego
while your "wisdom" I receive

but I don't like this idea
that I can't think for myself
or that if I disagree with you
you'll put me on a shelf

I'm tired of the games you play
your grasping, greedy need
every ugly word you've said
a firmly planted seed

you've watered it with disregard
it's light the bitter truth
your fertilized insecurities
indicted me with no proof

now you say you hate the smell
of my disenchanted flower
I'm not "what" you thought I was
when you locked me in this tower

finally you take a breath
my chance to finally speak
smiling, look you in the eyes
"I never was that weak"

This poem resounds as if presented in an ampitheatre with thousand in attendance with your voice directed only to the individual that has drawn your ire. Your ability to express is a gift.

Rewards to you for a study of egotism and the flowers it draws into the nectar. This flows and rhymes with a lovely enchantment. The ending disenchants because they always smile. You hit it hard.

Some people can only see their own endlessly mindless, insidiously contemptible character as the only one that matters, when in fact, it only makes them more insignificant with every word... Good write....

Gourgeous. My plight with the world. 30 minutes with me and they already conclude what I am. It is done more out of fear, though. Because as you know, to understand one like us would take more time then they care to give. Hell, it might just be beyond their abilities. Excellent piece. It gives me hope for the day....

i have been here and the way the words flow from you so true it was like a movie of my life this is beautiful

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.
