    inspired by my soldier brother

    The Blood of Ours

     out of my mouth
    north to south
    rockin the colors
    of every man about to
    swallow the fears
    and cry the tears
    the meaningless years
    they spend in uniforms
    pretending to defend
    a kingdom of queers
    religions and aquifers
    water for blood
    thick mississippi like delta mud
    soldiers trippin
    dynamite rippin
    squadrons tanks armies and banks
    presidential lies
    broken ties
    american cars no one buys
    the dream that dies in childs eyes
    im spitting poetry
    cant you feel the damp
    crank up the amp
    spray the crowd with rhyme
    soak them in sublime phrases
    metaphorical pages
    of flesh and tissue
    bone and gristle
    the nuclear moan of a low flying missile
    arabs in dresses
    machine gun clones
    children armed with stones
    bullets and rifles
    nothing but trifles
    for mislead leaders on a rampage
    defending their right
    to rape and pillage
    patriots lighting fires on stage
    beautiful women
    strapped with rocket fuel
    in the middle of people like me and you
    nobody sings in the morning
    nobody dreams at night
    we are all children,
    born into the light
    if we cant live peace
    if we cant shoulder pain
    like a desert in the morning
    we will die for lack of rain...

    i like the depth of it. it puts me in mind of billy joel's" we didn't start the fire"(good song regardless of wha u think).very deep&revelas ur inner thoughts & feelings...good job

    thanks pocket, this poem was a fun write for me, and i think it turned out really well
