    The Break-Away-Girl

    The lights

    The lights

    The lights are too bright

And the sky is too dark

And the air between seems to spark

As the fire rages high in the night

    Burn down the foundations

    And smash all the glass

    Destroy the creations

    Of each separate class

    Build up to the grade

Of those who have it made

    And watch it torn down

    By the castle and crown

    Rise up

    For you have fallen

    Watch out

    For they are calling

    Your name

    You stand on the ice

    As they roll the dice

And decide whether to break what lies

    Just beneath your feet

    They stand before the kingdom

    And call out the guards

    To take out the rebels

    Become a house of cards

    Your name is called out

But you will not step forward

And the crowd swallows your fear

As the guards continue to shout

    My break-away-girl

    Let your screams be heard

    Let your thoughts create

    A new world

    Scream louder and louder

Until the crowd begins to surge

As they join in your rebellion

    Against the king's word

    Break free from their walls

    And fight until you fly

Above the heads of the crown

    Above the heads of those

    Who others place so high

    Fly away girl

    And forget what has happened

Forget what they have done to you

And find a better life to live

    For the lights

    The lights

    The lights are too bright

And the sky is too dark

And the air between seems to spark

    As the fire rages on

    In the night...

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
