The Christmas Box

The Christmas Box

Time stands still
as I unwrap the box
I pull off the ribbon
to the ticking of the clock

I shake it a little
for it feels empty
just like my heart
when I stare at this tree

as I open the lid
there is nothing there
except the scars and memories
my broken heart wears

The holidays remind me
of those I have lost
The emptiness I feel
From the Christmas box

Thank you so much for you comments.

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
