Aphrodite

I don’t believe in Aphrodite

In a sense that she’s a single living entity

But I do know that she’s a spirit of beauty
Who lives and leave a body
and now, she dwells upon you lady,

As her perfect chosen sanctuary

Hail to you fair lady!

For you are standing on the pedestal

Where man like me praise you

With bended knee for your glory

And the spirit of power and wisdom

Envy your strong gravity

Your body is a shaft

And your head its crown jewel

Over all you're a sceptre

Who wield a great power

There' no use of a spell or voodoo

To compel us to you

Ages come and pass

And I prove your grace don't last

It's a gloom to witness

The fall of a diminishing Goddess

The vibrant temple of the past

Now ruined and collapsed!

There' nothing more magical, more seductive, that a highly charged mythological goddess. this poem honors that. Bravo!!! Peace and Light, dah

Your great work takes readers on an unexpected ride .. somewhat similar to the mythical time machine many wished to invent and ride in. Unusual vision writing!

Stellar, this is quite an exquisite piece. At first I thought that Aphrodite was one of those women - you know, brain dead and beautiful :)) since she got herself and others into enough trouble, but she was also far more than that. Women and men turned to her for aid to ease their longing; she was seen as gentle, fierce, pure, whorish, unpredictable, complex, fickle, steadfast, beautiful ... you get the picture, right? :)) She was born from the foam on the sea, married to an ugly nice god but slept around with a gorgeous jerk one...imagine that! LOL! You are extremely talented with a sharp vision. Loved it!

We all want to know an Aphrodite, and look and wish that she not be cold as marble stone. Interesting thoughts, Stell..............................................gogant

thank you so much for spending a time for reading this...thank you!!!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
