    The Huntress

    The Huntress
(Previously titled – Dumpster Diving Debbie)

    I’m married to a woman.
I swore I knew her well.
    You wouldn’t know by looking.
When she talks you cannot tell.
But when she spots a dumpster,
    She falls into a trance.
    Fears tossed out the window.
This is no game of chance.
    They say an eagle’s patient.
Ha! This veteran’s got him beat.
Timing is the key she boasts.
    She has never known defeat.
    Her only tool a ladder,
Cause her legs are kinda short.
Don’t even crack a smile folks,
She’s not in this for the sport
    When finally comes a treasure,
She knows she’s only got one shot.
She is quicker than a rattler.
Man! I sure hope she don’t get caught
But she’s up and down in no time,
    I’ve heard tell it’s quite a feat.
Don’t even blink an eye my friend,
She’ll be six blocks down the street.
    She might become a legend.
God, please don’t let this be the case.
I’m just glad her get away car,
Doesn’t have a lot more space.
If she wants to buy a truck,
I will have to let her know.
Her dumpster diving days are done
    Unless I get to go!

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
