    THE KINGS MERCIES

    The case was adjourned
    a long re-hearing date scheduled
    the accused stood no chance
for the law was no flaw
the plaintiff sang their proud praise
    they had won the case

    A mighty wind blew
the date of re-hearing had finally come
    He entered in-His face down
    hands and feet bound
He would be thrown down the dark pit
it was too late-there could be no pardon

    The messenger entered in
    A letter in his hand
The king is on His way
but the Judge-the Executioner couldn't wait
    the King was too late
that the verdict has been said

    the heavy Hammer sounded
the whole congregation turned round to see
the Great king had entered in
the Heart of the condemned man in his hand
    A verdict in His mouth
He spoke out His Word at last
It is not late after all
The accused is free to go

I know the feeling of forgiveness! It is inexplicable! It is so freeing, so burdenrevoving and it really makes a person change on teh inside; especially when they (I) KNOW they are guilty and not deserving. This poem really takes me back. I love my King!

Mercies are new every morning. Nicely formed poem.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
