The one they forgot

Poem Commentary

Just a random thought of the way I have felt in my life.
Shelley

The one they forgot

All I ever wanted
Was to make someone proud
Especially those I loved
So they would say it out loud

If they'd take me as I am
Instead of whom I am not
Telling me I am worthless
Without an afterthought

Standing in a crowded room
I'd remember those words
With my heard screaming inside
to the point of no return

I tried so hard to please them
That I forgot to please myself
Until one day I realized
I'm the only one I have left

Shelley B. King
