Poem Commentary

Got this from meditation this morning on queries from the universe!

The Only Way to Win

As days quickly gain,

I am turned to seek inward.

What properties to train,

some to leave out and some to remain.

Emphasize the worth of loyalty, honesty, too.

Be warm, genuine, steadfast and true.

Impress with compassion and goodness of mind.

Look for purity and love in kind.

But today is not the same as it was years ago.

The game is changed, diverse awareness, one needs to grow.

Insanity and heartbreak reign in these times.

What you wake up with one day, can change on a dime.

Listening closely to my inner light,

longing for reason and purpose in sight,

seeking, allowing the gentle force of the divine,

pursuing the guide that brings peace of mind.

An angel whisper blows just past,

As if asking a question and releasing the quest.

It’s not essential to fit in or to be the same.

What is vital to win, is to not play the game.

Drop out, sit back, let go and observe.

Seek not what’s around you,

what the world has preserved.

Believe in yourself. Don’t lose your nerve.

Things are bound to get tough.

You’ll need your quiet reserve.

Prepare inwardly, make peace and know your name.

The only way to win is to not play the game.

Release the past and learn how to forgive.

Into each moment, You Must Live!

Embrace the future, move as your heavenly self.

Find the reason to persevere, in that you must dwell.

Never lose sight of who you are!

To others, you may be the shining star.

If required, lift them up, with an outstretched hand.

There is power within you, at your command.

By letting your universal light expound,

your purpose is hope, your deliverance is found.

Bursting forth to thrive, realize these new rules.

I’ve spoken here of the valuable tools.

As you embark on this mysterious journey,

Don’t tread on others or get in a hurry.

What’s crucial to remember, is that nothing is the same.

The only way to win, is to not play the game.

We could use a kinder, and gentler, world. that being said I'd watch the cliches.. I know, I am just as much a victim of the cliches as anyone else.. so who am I to say watch them.... especially when they are entering our subconscious 24-7.. Still critics like originality.. Anyway, the rhythm, the rhyme, the images are what moves this poem.. making this reader interested in hearing more..

Well thanks for that truly honest and valuable assessment from someone who obviously knows about it. I am just a novice writer. I appreciate your reading my poems and I certainly hope that you will continue to do so from time to time and I hopefully will evolve in my writing style, too. Thanks so much!

I get my info (queries from the Universe as you say) from my dreams. I agree with you, and that is the best time to write, eh? You do know that "Haiku" was derived as a meditation form of poetry? "The only way to win is to not play the game." I would add that "winning" is about rules and being best at the "system" of those rules. To truly win, is to be outside of those rules, and make your own life the influence which others can follow. Nice poem. Would have been interesting to see it in a Pushkin Sonnet form.

I see the games people play all the time and you are right when it comes to the only way to win. I love the phrase inner light. It should be our constant guide. Respect is the action that has been lost with the passage of time. Your poem was a great write that was very well done. Thank you for sharing.

Coacher, Thanks for reading "The Only Way to Win" and your kind comments for it. I enjoyed writing it as a complete expression of where my mind or perspective is at the present time and probably will stay for the rest of my life. I am tired of the games, that people play, that the gov't plays, that the world has designed for people to be trapped inside of, that take away the joy and the beauty and the freedom and fullness of life. Thanks for noticing the value of the poem's words.

Found it interesting, and we could be a little kinder to one another, thanks for suggesting it. 10 from me.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.
