The Soldiers Prayer

The Soldiers Prayer

In all that I do
and all that I say,
I can only pray;
to contain my condition
of humility
and weakness
into my serve.

For all to behold
the glory of God and
for all of His children
to know just one God.

I pray for the safety
of all that I serve;
His love to beholden
by all who observe:
the actions I take,
the words I have said.

For His love is worthy.
For Him I do take
this oath of commitment;
my fellow to serve
until all on this earth
His word
they have heard.

You've done a great job with your wording and rythym this piece speaks to my heart as I also lost my father 3 yrs ago to cancer. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was very proud of his time in the service. He was an MP(military police) on Okinawa. I grew up listening to his adventures and mischief overseas. He was a very proud and caring man. I hear what you are trying to say in this piece and I feel your emotions as I read each word. A well written and well thought out piece. Keep on writing its the best way I know to relay your feelings to others and you know that they can't shut you out while they are reading as they could if you were speaking. I've been wrting poetry and short stories since I was 10 yrs old. I look forward to reading more of your work. Kyma63

Thank you. I feel that our soldiers must have a deep soul in order to do what they do, and I wanted to let them know that we know it is there, even if they can't say it.

I like this it is lovely. The way you put your words together is inspiring. Thank you for giving me the chance to read it.

Thank you. I never imagined I would hear the word inspiring. I'm humbled. :)

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
